Adamus Lonecerus (physician in Frankfurt in the mid 17th century) writes the following on the peony:

"The root, worn round the neck/
is good for the falling sickness.
"

Peony seeds (e.g. worn as a necklace) and peony leaves (as an infusion) were also used to prevent seizures.
